The Latest from the East Coast Copes

Nic’s preschool artwork from Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008. It appears to be a finger painting (above) and then a mouse and a clock, which can only mean one thing, “Hickery dickery dock, the mouse ran up the clock.”

Today was Nic’s first day of preschool! I’m sure you can spot him in the middle. The first day was only an hour and was more of an orientation for both the parents and the children. Nic loved it and can’t wait to go back! He especially loves story time.
He will be going twice a week for about three hours. We’re excited for him, but at the same time a little nervous, but I suppose that’s normal for parents sending their only child off to school. We’ll keep you posted on his progress!

7.11.2008 | Nic's First Fishing Trip

Nic reeling in his catch.

Nic went fishing for the first time on Friday and he had a great time! I wish I’d had a video camera, but I was able to take some good pictures. Nic got a Lightning McQueen fishing pole complete with a little backpack, tackle box and bobber. I didn’t put a hook on his line; instead, I used a little clip and attached a lure that looked like a small fish.

At first, I taught Nic how to release his line so his bait would drop in the water. He mastered that quickly, so I proceded to teach him how to cast his line. I didn’t think he would get it right away, but I showed him how daddy did it and when I tried to help him, he told me, “No daddy, I’ll do it!” At first, he just kept dropping his lure right back into the water where he stood, so I turned around and started casting my line again. Suddenly, I heard this “wizzzzzzzz” followed by a “plooosh.” I spun around to find that Nic has cast his lure about 20 feet into the river! From that point on, he threw a perfect casts almost every time. He is a natural born fisherman. This picture is of him reeling in his line!

7.10.2008 | We've made some changes!

We have made a minor change to how we operate this site! To make it easier to provide more regular updates, I have set up this new page that allows us to quickly and easily upload updates, videos, pictures and more. You shouldn’t notice a difference, but if you look up in your browsers address bar, you’ll see that this site’s address is eastcoastcopes.tumblr.com. It looks exactly like the old page, the only difference is the address. If you have any questions, please let me know at gary.cope@gmail.com.

Love you all!

Nic, Donna and Gary
